"Can't be worse" except for the whole part where they're open to being sexually and physically assaulted, being charged if they report anything to the police, even when they do the police won't take it seriously, in the off chance they do the attacker's lawyer can easily get a not guilty verdict because of stigma against sex workers and convincing the jury that the worker probably consented... Oh plus all those instances of serial killers targeting sex workers but it isn't until there's 4+ reported deaths in a 2 month period that the police might finally investigate it as a serial killing, standard racist attitudes make the police even less likely to care about sex workers who are minorities, legal policies meant to crack down on sex work only further increase the risks (like FOSTA only benefiting pimps by pushing sex workersaway from places where they can communicate and warn each other of dangerous clients, those policies that make it so any woman with a condom on her possession can have it used as proof of intent which in turn is making condomless sex that much more common in the field), the fact that they're having their bank accounts frozen or closed and all the money locked out from them if it gets reported (and it has for years), etc.

Retail sucks ass but you aren't at risk of being murdered and having nobody give a damn.

For that matter, even cam workers are having their bank accounts frozen and if it's proven their money comes from a cam site or any of those clip selling ones, all of the money in the account is forfeit. Whereas in retail, the only time you'd not get paid is if your boss is breaking the law, HR fucked up, or you're at a restaurant and it's several steps past "going under" and the chances of you ever getting paid for those hours is basically none.
