A lot of office jobs have plenty of downtime but you gotta perform fast and well when called to.

TBF, Sergio did what was most considered impossible and resolved pretty much 100% of both Fiat AND Chrysler's debts. That alone puts him at least on the same tier as Mullaly and Iacocca. And I say that as someone who hates the Fiat lineup and the Fiatification of most of Jeep.

some CEOs do work, but the amount they make is completely disproportionate to the amount of work they do, and is predicated on them owning things rather than actually doing any work

My job 95% of the time plus for the last 2 months. It's a t and m job too so my company doesn't care about production...its all on the insurance company. Doing a massive reno on a downtown 5 story building (it's only got three levels but the lofts on the top 2 floors have insanely high ceilings so it's a tall building). First few months were gruelling and often dangerous.

But the last 6 weeks to two months have been a joke. It's an insurance job and the engineers are 17 kinds of incompetent (anyone who does the ground shit knows engineers but this is way beyond typical) so we're literally there most days just so the company can profit off of us billing us out. We get money they get money and..... I don't understand why the insurance company doesn't fucking pressure the engineers.

But it's literally nuts. I don't have the data on my phone to support it. I've played some wicked ass 2 hour broomstick tape puck hockey games. I've tried to nap. We've caught pigeons. I've done some cool finger paintings. lol. I can't get over the feeling that it's wrong but no one cares cause everyone makes money on our end. And nothing gets approved by the engineers almost ever and when it does we have to redo it later. So it's not like I'm slacking off. I'm just paid to be there most of the time.

Like we can't bring laptops and watch movies cause you gotta maintain some degree of borderline professionalism but seriously it's insane. It's actually sort of hard.

Hell I've built mills and given the safety regulations at those industrial gigs it's pretty damn slack too. No tolerance for doing nothing but theres always some reason you aren't working it seems.

I was working longs ass days and working hard too but the amount of time you get for warming up in extreme cold and the fact you can't go up in a lift or even a ladder without someone else with you and the weight restrictions are just nuts. The safety part takes up as much time as the work some days.
