....is what I'd like to say, but a lot of stores have a policy against pursuing thieves for legal reasons(Also your employee killing or getting killed both results in bad press).

I wouldn't say "up in arms" but someone dying under very suspicious circumstances, seeing all the rioting, and the radio silence from the police all didn't sit well with me.

Yes obviously shooting someone and claiming they stole from you is also suspicious if you don't have hard evidence it occurred. That's why shooting shoplifters isn't legal under normal circumstances. I'm just callously unsympathetic when it comes to thieves.
