I don't care about North Korea. Kim Jong Un may be a terrible person, but the thing he cares most about is staying in power. He knows that a nuclear strike on the US will end his regime, so he will never do it.

Iran is different though. They are a theocracy run by religious extremists who believe that god will return to the earth if there is enough chaos. They WANT to be destroyed during a nuclear war, because it will bring about jihad. They are completely irrational and extremely dangerous.

So yes, liberal atheist me 100% supports a preemptive war with Iran--and the rumor is that Trump is pushing for it.

America's NMD programs are probably more than capable of preventing nuclear attacks from places like North Korea and Iran. Maybe not the Russians or Chinese tho.

If we ever did get into a war with Iran, their firing of a nuke would be their biggest mistake, as they would have the rest of the [sane] world against them, and most likely a fuck ton of our own nukes on a flight path their way.

But like in wikipedia in the future that conflict would have it chocked up as a win for us and an aftermath portion like "americans felt real bad about this one but a win is a win",
. I mean the us has been accused of genocide before most recently in the iraq war. Is it really so different to occupy a country like iraq with thousands of people dying and killing 80 million people with thermonuclear weapons? Its all genocide so why not go all in.

I'd prefer not to enter into another war with no discernible goal that creates more problems than it solves
