im not a fan of flashbacks as a narrative device, it can be used as a lazy way to cover plot holes and fasten character development in a cheap way

Season 7 will just be flashbacks to earlier seasons.

The whole show will turn into a feedback loop.

But the flashbacks are of characters who we don't know how they got in prison.

I guess you're talking about Taystee's flashback? Though that was more for the guard friend than her, who is a new character.

I felt like the flashbacks for most new characters were unnecessary. I enjoyed the sisters and the guard with Taystee.

Like Daddy and Badison are the way they are for no reason.

Carol and Barb flashbacks were great. Showing the literal murder of a 12 year old girl ups the ante considerably and shows these criminals are harder than the ones we've come to know.

Outside of Tastee, the flashbacks were needed and well done this season.

The same thing happened with Weeds, too.

The flashbacks are hit or miss for me, but I agree with the sentiment that the show has dragged on for too long. I think one of my big criticisms of season 5 was that there was no endgame in sight.

This season definitely changed that though. I thought this season was a big step up from last year and that next season will for sure be the final one.

Outside of Tastee, the flashbacks were needed and well done this season.

Cindy, Daddy, and especially Badison were not needed. I also could have done without Nicky's. It was all a bit random and felt like they didn't add a fat lot to the characters, just to the episodes.

Also this is the first season Piper and Alex did not get flashbacks right? That's awesome.
