Even the thumbnail of the video has the tagline clearly visible:

"Sexist Air Conditioning"

And yet you act like I am somehow misconstruing the argument?

Exactly how does copying what the news site titles the segment misconstruing the argument @COVxy hmm?

I mean they're not wrong, women on average tend to feel colder than men do. My firm I work at does get a lot of complaints from women about the AC being too cold a lot and only recently did we start teaching them how to operate the thermostat (a lot of paper had to be signed in order to let them operate it). With that being said, calling AC sexist is just lol worthy.

Men and women run experience the cold differently, most offices have the thermostat set to appease the comfort level of men. Pretty simple to understand.

So you agree with air conditioning being sexist?

Cause you are acting like I made up that phrase when literally the first line of the reporter is: "It turns out it is the air conditioning that is sexist!"

the guest then affirms

"I know!"

So what exactly was misconstrued to make the "other" side look stupid @COVxy ?

Consider this.

Which has a remedy.

An office that is too hot?

Or an office that is too cold?

Lets say this woman changes the world and offices are now too hot for men.

How do they then cool off in the office? Take off shirts? Buy portable air conditioners?

On the other side, wearing a sweater seems to be a much more cost effective way to combat not liking the temperature does it not?

It is also ignorant to assume all women find the colder office unpleasant. Do you think the ladies with quite a lot of weight agree? Would they want a hot office?

This is true as well, but I guess it depends on who is the majority. The only reason my firm allows women to touch the thermostat because currently we have more women employed than men. Productivity goes up if the employees working are comfortable. Though on average, it's usually more men working in offices than women are.

The answer is I didn't misconstrue anything. The reporter said "air conditioning is sexist".
The guest agreed.
The video even had it as the title written by the editors of the news site.

So when I titled my thread the same way, I didn't misconstrue a single thing.
If you think the phrase is wrong, maybe you should have beef with sky news and not me.

There's not a switch where you turn the thermostat to "woman" or "man". There's a continuous metric called "temperature" and one can compromise to the mean appropriate temperature so that everyone is more comfortable...

It's a really complicated equation, so I'll try my best to explain it thoroughly. See, you take each person's preferred thermostat temperature and you add them all up, like all together. Then, this part is crucial, you divide by the total number of people in the office.

but isn't that only fair? :/ if a wamen gets too cold can't she just put on a jacket or a sweater? Men can't take off extra clothes to get cooler.

But there are more men than women in an office environment on average, meaning the 'mean appropriate temp' so that 'everyone is more comfortable' will be on the cool side.

Wear a sweater.

This is even funnier if you are deluded enough to think that would not only work to appease an entire office, but also appease these women who complain.

If there are more male workers, the average will be a whole lot lower. Your solution is basically saying that the air conditioner temperatures are not sexist and not wrong for women who complain if they are in the minority.
Which means you should oppose the idea given from the video.

If indeed there is more female workers, then the office will be hotter making the men uncomfortable.
Is your point that air conditioning can be sexist if and only if there is a minority male population that controls it? Cause that is not what the video or you have previously suggested.

Now, there is actually studies people have done to try to find the sweet spot.
And guess what, your answer isn't the solution they give:

http://www.bristolite.com/blog/what-is-the-optimal-office-temperature-for-productivity-and-focus/

The exact ideal temperature, according to most studies, is 71 degrees. At this point, personal productivity is maximized and greater that at any other temperature, with productivity declining as the temperature increases and decreases.

A single degree above 71 results in a decline in productivity, albeit not a particularly severe one. Drop the temperature down a degree and most people will experience a small decline in their average productivity level.

Once the temperature rises beyond 75 degrees, productivity starts to decrease at a faster rate. Because of this sudden drop-off point, its best to aim for a temperature of between 71 and 75 degrees, on average, in your workplace.

huh no talk about a survey...

Lets remember of course what made you so upset.

I literally copied what the video stated and was titled verbatim.
Yet somehow I am the one who has made up my mind and tried to make the other side appear stupid.

Yet, I humored you and asked for the solution and you couldn't even be bothered to look for a real one.

Here are some more articles explaining how your solution does not work:

https://nycofficesuites.com/2016/06/fair-office-temperatures-for-all-employees/

https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/finding-best-office-temperature-basically-impossible-180949755/

And amazingly, if a man is in the minority and sets the temperature based on this study, would you call him sexist?
These women apparently would.

False equivalency. Getting your dick cut off is still pretty extreme. While "sexist air conditioning" is about as mild as "oppression" can get.

Lol. I don't agree with that. I explicitly disagree with giving anyone universal control of the thermostat. Not only are there gender differences, but also vast individual differences. Yet the standard is that control of the thermostat is delegated to the one in charge.

More appropriate to literally calculate the mean. It is literally the balancing point where all deviances sum to zero, making it optimally fair here.
