I haven't heard anyone say turret. Everyone I know says turret. Perhaps the perhaps you were listening to has an odd accent?

I've heard waRsh instead of wash, which is a bit jarring. Maybe the guy from E3 accidentally combined two similar sounding words that he frequently uses (like bit "torrent" and "turret") and blurted out turreNt. Maybe he slurred his words.
