The Costco near my house will cross check both, so they can make sure the card is being used by the owner. It's mostly because they actually have a membership system. I almost never see other grocery stores do this unless the cashier wants to

Thats weird, my costco never checks my ID. I've been going to them for a long time and I never once had to to pull out my ID when paying.

That's on the rare occasion that they actually check and it's only if you use a card

If you pay in cash, then there is a 0% chance they will check your ID.

Ugh wat? Whenever I go grocery shopping anywhere, I never had to pull out my ID unless I was buying Alchohol.

I get what you're saying TT, but it's basically semantics.

It boils down to different perspectives. Some of us believe voter ID is important and some of us don't.

I believe it's important and you do not but we both have our opinions and ability to vote.

Yeah they only check when you charge with the card for the reasons I stated above. Costco is a special case though. Otherwise I rarely ever see people check photo ID. It's definitely not a common thing for groceries

So I decided to text my friend who used to work as a cashier at Costco, and he responded that the only times he ever checked on anyone's ID was if they paid by check or if they're suspicious that they're not the costco member cardholder (which happens rarely). They don't ask for ID majority of the time is because they want to line to keep moving and asking for their ID will hold it up longer.

EDIT: Okay, Costco policy states they can check ID when the members are also paying by credit or debit card as well, but my friend states once again that happens rarely.

It makes sense. Not even my Costco checks all the time. But it's probably a stricter policy depending on the location. Though I'm pretty sure they also allow you to borrow somebody else's membership but you pay with your own credit card, but I'm not sure
