Can you believe this is the same guy who threatened his workers that they either protest Seattle's tax on 500+ employee businesses to alliviate the city's homeless problem, or else risk being fired because it would be impossible to stay in business in Washington?

I can. Dude would rather have more money to hoard than to give workers a raise or at least have them not work in deplorable conditions. Which is why the whole "We need to tax the rich" pitch by liberals and Democrats are hilarious.

I think Amazon is a tech bubble that is going to burst primarily because of how poorly its employees are paid. Few of them are happy, and eventually it's going to lead to lawsuits/changes that drastically change how the company operates and how profitable it is. I don't care for Bezos' stance on philanthropy either, there's still huge amounts that can be done here instead of his excuse that there isn't enough philanthropic need.

Unless all the warehouse workers quit, causing orders to not be fulfilled, there's little chance that anything will change.

Trump posting negative stuff about Bezos is only causing liberals and Democrats to stand with Bezos. You already have all those states bending over backwards to be chosen for Amazon Campus #2, so it's likely he'll have the votes in Congress not to pass any bills that would negatively adverse his pocketbook.

in order to spend 28m a day consistently, bezos would have to sell portions of his stake in amazon

because his wealth is almost entirely based on amazon's market capitalization, and the growth of his wealth tied to amazon's growth, a diminishing stake in amazon would result in diminishing returns with respect to the growth of his net worth

i will not deny that amazon, like most if not all major corporations, enjoy the fruits of cronyist economic policy that impede a truly competitive market, but certain principles still apply

that is to say, most billionaires are not just sitting on an amount of cash equivalent to their net worth that they refuse to share with their poor exploited workers, but rather their net worth is approximated from the valuation of their holdings - whereby their "holdings" are ultimately an abstract reference to the business operations themselves

remember: equity vs liquidity

i'd hate to be a misanthrope but most people are either uninterested or unwilling to truly invest themselves in maximizing their individual success, let alone taking on entrepreneurial endeavors

they like the idea of being successful but not the mo it requires of them

amazon actually offers a mountain of resources on all things cloud computing - usually within the context of their web services, but which i'd imagine could be extrapolated to other platforms - but how many people take the time to read them that aren't already deeply immersed in the sector

We are in agreement. But it's certainly a better alternative than enabling people with free money. I view working and success like a muscle, and you have to work out that muscle to get it strengthened. Handouts just atrophy you and give low incentive to get off the couch or leave the basement.
