Of course there are shady deals that happen, but there are also groups representing entire industries that lobby on behalf for good reason. For instance, my wife works in the physical therapy field and she was part of the PAC for the industry. Much of the lobbying was done to try and ease regulations to allow more PT instead of doctors turning straight to opiates. Is that bad? Maybe if you are in the opiate industry. Point is, lobbying isn't always a bad thing. Big businesses care about profit, and a stakeholder theory is devised to maximize profits in the long term. It's why businesses will donate big money to local projects, finance roads, etc. It is in their best interest to have a good image, and catering to all stakeholders allows this. It's both of theirs. Every economist agrees that we're in the USs second longest economic expansion ever. Trump inherited a booming economy. He did some stuff too, but the rate of change hasn't changed drastically enough for him to take full credit. He's simply been improving things at the rate they were already improving.
