So Google has a moral or legal responsibility to publish all content that is submitted to them regardless of content or quality?

Doesn't that also include purposely misleading or poorly researched 'fake news'?

If google doesn't want to be responsible for the content then yes, they shouldn't censor anything.

Because when you remove some things and not others, that now means you are for the others not removed. That makes you complicit.

This is why up until now these services have just let people do whatever. When you become an editorial and reviewer who selects what the content is....
YOU...ARE...RESPONSIBLE.

It's not censorship to refuse to publish content. You literally agree to this when you sign up for any of their services.

So you think that all book publishing houses must publish anything submitted to them at their own expense?

So was that a no?

If google removes all links to gamefaqs, explain where gamefaqs had ever agreed or signed anything in the first place.

One day google just said "hey, ppl visit this site, so we will publish links of them on our own because....that is what a search engine does."

So you don't understand how a search engine works lmao.

Tos is for the people searching and the sites paying to be on the top of the list.
Everyone else is placed on the list...

Without consent.

Besides, the tos is for actual services like gmail and google plus.

Like, you could make a site today and it be one google tomorrow without you knowing because their bots found it. What tos did you agree to?

Meanwhile, the draw of google is they are the best, most accurate, expansive search engine. Fyi, there was more than google and bing back in the day.

Yeah, that would be the last holdout of someone who doesn't understand what is going on. Having actually been involved in getting a site listed for Google News before, I'm pretty certain there are a number of rules and agreements that must be passed to actually get listed.

Again, it's their business. If they want to be fucking scummy about it, it is their choice. They are not a public service. They could make every single link on their entire index link to a Rick Roll if they wanted. Whether it is scummy or not to abuse their role to gather information is an actual debate, but the legality of it is not.

You agree to their terms and willingly submit your information to them. They get to choose how they organize that information and what information they will and won't publish. You agree to it in their fucking terms of service.

Edit: As for sites you create being indexed ... pretty sure your problem would be with the service that you are creating the site on, then, who automatically index sites, as most sites offer a 'no index' option for content specifically so it isn't listed on google. Again, though, I'd imagine that sites like Wordpress specifically have clauses for this in their terms of service.

censorship being apart of the terms of service still doesn't make it ok, especially with google's dominance of the industry

but i'll willingly admit to being a hypocrite. if google focused more on removing left-wing media and content creators than right-wing ones, i'd be doing your line of argument byron.

So you actually are ignorant about what I refer to then. I thought you were just being dense.

https://www.theleverageway.com/blog/how-long-does-it-take-google-to-index-a-new-site/

It takes between 4 days and 4 weeks for your brand new website to be crawled and indexed by Google.

Google has a.i. that does this automatically. You don't do anything. It does it without your consent.

What you are referring to is speeding up the process and possibly getting a higher rank.

Btw I should rephrase this. They shouldn't censor anything not blatantly illegal. Links to torrents and cp obviously get them into legal hot water.

So your argument is now that by not explicitly preventing their bots, you enter into an...agreement...with google and consent to google's tos?

From Wikipedia...

On October 23, 2017, PragerU filed a federal lawsuit against Google claiming that 37 of its videos were unfairly demonetized or flagged so that they could only be viewed with restricted mode disabled.[8] The restricted mode filter "limits views based on certain characteristics, including the age of the viewer".[8] On March 26, 2018, the case was dismissed by U.S. District Court Judge Lucy Koh, who ruled that because Google was a private company PragerU had failed to show that it had infringed its free speech rights

So how is it different this time?
