I hate that expression. It doesn't make any sense if you think about it, but I guess it sounds smart or something.

When you talk about 50-50 in marriage, you're talking about the marriage being 50% of what you put into it, and 50% what your spouse puts into it. But when you talk about 100-100 in marriage, you're talking about putting 100% of yourself into the marriage, and your spouse putting 100% of themself into the marriage. And ideally, if you both put in 100% of yourselves into the marriage, it should be each person contributing about 50% of the marriage... 50-50.

But no one ever notices that, when people say that expression, that the parameters have been changed. That 50-50 doesn't mean put 50% of yourself into the marriage, but means that about 50% of the marriage should come from you.

Umm, 100 minus 100 is 0.

Apparently Dr. Phil and his fans. He may not have come up with the phrase, but he seems to be who popularized it, anyway. The saying is a lot more popular than some of you seem to be aware.

Of course it means percent. The percent of the total effort. 100/100 means efforts are not combined toward the same goal. You know who puts in 100/100? Me and the President. He has nothing to do with my daily life, and nothing I do shows up as a blip on his radar. He doesn't buy me a Christmas present, I don't buy him one, and nobody has any hurt feelings.

You are right, but that still has its own issues. It may not be exactly 50-50, but the further you get from that ideal, the less likely the marriage can work, regardless of whether or not both people really are doing their best.

I agree, TC. Being fully committed is a lot better than phoning it in daily because "the other person has my back." Why people wouldn't want to give it their all in a relationship is beyond me. I understand that shit happens and you're going to be running on 50 somedays, that's life and that's ok, but not even trying for 100 and calling 50 good enough is disregarding your relationship and your significant other.

Not really. As long as you're happy with what they give you, it doesn't really matter what they're capable of. They're giving 100%, it's the thought that counts.

That you should have stayed in school and avoided drugs? The concept of 100/100 input on a cooperative episode is stupid. That means either party has no need of the other, each having completed 100% of the goals of the project. The purpose of cooperation is to reduce the load on any member of the project, each taking care of a portion of the whole. In a two-party project, equal effort is 50/50. Having to explain this qualifies the public opinion of the Internet, post 1993, and most certainly, post 2006.

I'd just like to point out that the most effective method is 100% load on all cores, not throttling the faster core to the slower core's speed. A relationship shouldn't be SLI, it should be a single PCB.
