First I'll say that the video is definitely more interesting to me than the song. It's not that I dislike the song at all, it just doesn't have too much going for me is all. I like the cute animals shown in this opening though from what it seems, they probably don't have too much to do with the anime itself, most likely just side characters and what not. My favorite part is definitely 1:06 though I really wish the vocals didn't just repeat the same note a million times during it.

I would like the After Story OP so much more if it weren't for that talking/chanting part or whatever it is that starts at 1:10. I like most of the song a lot but god do I hate that part. Drops the OP an entire tier at least for me.

I love the chanting part. Tempted to say it's my favorite part, but I love a lot of parts.

There was a few seconds around 1:08 that had some more interesting scenes going on, but it only lasts for a few seconds and then goes back to more paper flowers everywhere.

If I was ranking on pure uniqueness alone this would definitely be topping the charts. Even though this probably wouldn't be an anime I'd actually be interested in watching, that opening did have me intrigued for sure. Even the song is not your typical anime opening and I can really appreciate both the song and the video working together perfectly. Unfortunately, I only really enjoyed the first 30 seconds of the song, the rest of the song kind of falling flat for me at least. The first bit though flows so well and gives that perfect feel that I think the anime was going for.

The song for this ending is oh so close to being really quite nice but doesn't quite reach that mark for me. It's still fairly good but I feel if was changed slightly in some ways, it could be a really awesome song that I'd like to listen to more. That being said it still fits the more relaxed video quite well and overall it was pleasant to watch. I think that throwing random anime scenes into the first half of this ending was a pretty big mistake. I think it would have flowed a lot better without those scenes and as it is, those parts kind of hurt the score here a bit for this one. Not a huge amount mind you, but yeah.

About the random anime scenes... they do that almost every ending starting from the very first one. The 'recap' here is tame, there was one that lasted half the video. At this point it's tradition (aka a lame excuse to do less animation)

Also, the song is named after the bridge at 0:44 (Togetsukyo), a must see in Kyoto. I went there last summer and loved the view, but then I saw this ED and wished I had gone during autumn instead.

Yeah Conan has been an anime for a looooong time. I'm not surprised there's that many different OPs and EDs. Though I never have enjoyed Detective Conan's ancient aesthetic style, I did quite enjoy the song.

I would once again echo (almost) everything Ermine had to say about that last OP, except for me it starts to devolve around the 44 second mark rather than 30 seconds in. Devolve isn't actually a great word to describe it, more like it loses focus and then I lose interest. Before then it had me hooked with its intriguing Bond villain-esque theme and haunting visuals. Then after that it kind of... went off on a tangent. Still pretty good though.

On the one hand, damn I was hoping to get over 7/10... sorry, 70/100, and I also feel disappointed that Anagram managed to outlast me (what a cheater) and personally I also just wanted to see Redo go out before it because I don't care for the song in that... but it still did considerably better than I expected. When I saw a couple of songs I liked go out quite a bit earlier (like the Ergo Proxy OP) I didn't have much hope that it'd get anywhere near this far.

Side note, Rakugo S2 would've been my pretty clear AotY of last year if not for them pulling some awful reveals at the very end that knocked my rating down from a legitimate 9/10 (extremely rare from me, I've only given maybe 5 shows higher than 8 ever) down to a 7. It's really good imo

I figured we'd get some Gundam in here at some point and I wasn't disappointed in this selection. The song is solid all the way through and while the video itself isn't winning any awards for uniqueness, it's definitely Gundam! You've got your character showcases and then you got your Gundams fighting, that's all you should expect from these openings I suppose. Either way the song compliments the video quite well and while I'm not the biggest fan of Gundams, I can't say I dislike them. If a friend popped on some Gundam I wouldn't be opposed to just chilling and watching it.

I think the progression of this ending video is actually really nice. It's VERY well done for an ending video and I only wish that I enjoyed the song a little bit more. The song is just not my kind of music or something that I enjoy. Both the quiet parts and high energy parts just don't do it for me and since the music is quite a huge part of openings and endings for me, I can only really place this so high based on the visuals alone. It's not to say I don't think the song fits with the video, it's just not a song I like, plain and simple.

Ah, was hoping for a higher showing but I'll take it. I find great humour that my OP has a good song but terrible visuals, and the ED is great visually but deemed to have an unappealing song. Me, I always feel it when it transitions with "I was always thinking of you" coupled with the images from years long past... oh man :(

Also, I can't believe Anagram's two OPs are in the top 6. Almost expecting Pokemon #1, Sailor Moon #2... looking forward to seeing those writeups/rationales, lol.

What an incredibly weird opening. I feel like this opening comes in three parts, in terms of music AND video. The first third gets you interested in what the heck the anime is about and has a nice beat to go with it and then the second part happens at 0:34 and holy crap I completely lost all interest in both the song and video. Generic anime girls wow! And not to mention the song takes a pretty big nose dive as well. If it had ended like that, I probably would have given this at least 10-20 points lower, but then the third part comes in and while the product placement for the PSP is pretty blatant here, the video and song itself really turns itself around at 0:57. I'm a pretty big fan of the harpsichord and harpsichord sounding things and just the overall shift of the song was a super huge plus for me. I sort of wish the whole thing was in that kind of tone but maybe the drastic 3 different parts is supposed to be the point? I've never seen the anime so I can't really say but I'm guessing that it was intentional to make the opening that way.

BIG IMPORTANT NEWS: I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN OPENING AND TALKED ABOUT IT AS SUCH. THIS WASTED 30 MINUTES OF MY TIME TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY I HAD ONE EXTRA OPENING SONG FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I'm so sad. The way this song started off I got so freaking hype because I thought it was going to be AMAZING but then it just turned out alright. Since I was ranking this one as one of the last ones I was really hoping something stood out and surprised me, but this one just fell short. The video and visuals look nice but it's just showing off characters so you don't even get any real epic moments especially when the chorus kicks off at 0:56. I cannot explain how close this song was to being really something quite special. I LOVE the energy it has but the vocals just fall a bit short and didn't do what I wanted them to. Especially with how the song started off, I was expecting something a bit different and just got sad when it didn't go the way I wanted it to go. Either way, this was still fairly good, just has a lot of missed potential in my opinion.

I wasn't really digging this for the first half and while the video is actually quite good and very interesting to watch, the song wasn't getting me into it enough. But then 0:54 happened and everything was forgiven. This part of the song is so clearly better than the rest of it and the visuals here are also excellent. If I enjoyed more of the song, this could probably be in the low-high 80s but upon relistening and watching it again, I'm still not really liking the first half that much. Quite good overall though.

Ooof, I wish you had used the Opening for DN instead of the Ending but alas. Anyways, Death Note is one of the very few animes that have no animals in it that I actually really enjoy... well at least the first half. Anyways, the ending here isn't that amazing, I'm not that big a fan of the song and the first half of this ending is very lackluster to me. If I was ranking just based on the first half of this ending, the final score would probably be around 50, but then 0:44 happens and damn it takes a good turn, both in video and music. I love the introduction of the piano to this part and the video is also at its best here. Unfortunately we only get about 10 seconds of this awesomeness but it is definitely enough to bump the score up a good amount for me. When you are watching this ending, you are definitely holding out for 0:44.

Holy Nostalgia! If this song doesn't bring back awesome memories, I don't know what will. To be honest though, the song itself isn't that great by any means and I do have to say that I very much prefer the full version of the song. It has a SICK guitar solo in the full version that is just super epic. While this opening has incredible amounts of nostalgia, it also reminds me that overall the Gen 1 anime was ruined for me because of Charizard. Fuck what he did at the Indigo Plateau. One of the worst ways to end off and it really soured my opinion of that Season as a whole. There's a ton of good in the first season though so I can't hate it toooo much. Throwing that stuff aside, the opening is fun, nostalgic and the song is pretty good too. Love seeing my favorite Gen 1 pokes pop up like Charmander and Cubone <3

This probably would have ranked around the 80 score if it weren't for the characters interrupting the song constantly. It's weird too because about halfway through they decide the mute the characters which is what they should have done from the start. That doesn't really make much sense to me. I was about to get super pissed because I had a favorite part of the song but every time it started playing, the characters would talk over it. THANKFULLY the part played for a third time near the end which didn't have the characters talking over it otherwise this would have placed in the 60s. The part is at 3:36-3:47 which is quite lovely. Anyways, getting the annoyance of the characters speaking over the music out of the way, overall the song is very nice and the visuals accompany it fantastically. A very relaxing opening to watch and listen to.
