Yeah, I don't really get it. Unless you guys already know each other and have been friends for a while. How do you even know if you like each other yet or would be interested in getting serious? You're going to meet her parents and then maybe never see them again. What's the point?

Your male friend is right. It's fucking weird and can have quite a few implications. She might be already thinking about marriage or maybe her parents opinion matters too much. Respect for parents is good but allowing their opinions to rule your life is definitely bad
