This. The flavor is just overpowering to me. I can handle them when they've been cooked off, like in soups. I can handle mcdonalds' little chopped onion bits because they have a weak enough flavor. I can handle those little fried crispy onion strips that are like the fried crispy jalapenos for the same reason, and I can handle some types of onion rings depending on how they're prepared... otherwise, when it comes to anything with onions in it, I can't taste anything but onions in it.

Oddly enough, the smell doesn't really bother me. In fact, if someone is sauteing onions and garlic in butter or butter and oil, it smells fucking delicious. It just doesn't translate to taste for me >_<

A small amount of onion powder or onion salt is good and that's it.

Onions are great, although I'll avoid raw onions most of the time because places always put a ton on the burgers/sandwiches and then you will taste the onions on your breath hours later.

i made the mistake of chewing a small chunk of a clove of fresh garlic.

the taste did not leave my mouth for 3 full days and i actually got pretty light headed for a minute or two. not recommended.

saying this as someone that frequently uses garlic as an ingredient.

The only issue that I have with raw garlic is that if I eat so much that my mouth is on fire like from eating hot peppers or whatever, instead of the temporary relief of drinking something cold (yes I know it's temporary), it's like instantly worse. Still, when I'm cooking with garlic or garlic powder, I typically use roughly "WAY too fucking much" compared to what is suggested.

Raw garlic is great too wtf. Eat slices of that with ssambap, fucking delicious. Also good for treating colds and sore throats.
