I thought NY was a one party consent thing unless it's in an instance where someone could reasonably expect privacy? Is it different in the city?

You have to inform someone when they are being recorded. Since all those men had the thought they were going on a date, it breaks their privacy by publicly embarrassing them.

Backstory: Natasha Aponte makes tinder account where she matches up with over a hundred dudes. She led these guys on since June 2018 and she told them that she was busy working on a marketing event for her company and that she didn't have time for he friends at the moment but she thought the guy was cute and would like to meet him when she was free. Fast forward to August 2018, she tells the guys that her friend is hosting a DJ event at Union Square Park on August 19th 2018 and that afterwards they would leave for a drink. Come the day of the event over a hundred guys are looking for this Natasha staring at their phones. She comes on stage with a bunch of bodyguards and says it was a ruse. She then makes the guys compete for her affection by competing with each other by doing push-ups and running. She also makes the guys participate in an actual real life tinder swiping where she swiping left and right. To close the event she goes on a feminist rant about dating. The aftermath is her being insulted by the men on her Instagram and her losing over 800 followers and forcing her to make her profile private.
