Ya know, when you think about it besides the awful story and the even worse completely garbage characters (of which there are like 40+ ugh, so stupid) the game is actually not that bad. Graphics? Good. Music? Pretty good. Even the combat is not bad, once you get the hang of it.

I've been meaning to give it another go, sort of ignoring the story.

If I can enjoy FF2, I can probably enjoy Cross.

Maybe dawn of souls is different from vanilla ff2 but I never got the hate for that game either, OR its combat (isn't it literally just like those wrpgs/elder scrollsish type games except a lot older and cruder around the edges?)

I'd be hard pressed to actually outright recommend giving chrono cross another shot though, that's a bit more difficult to do honestly.
