Beat it on my PS2 over a decade ago. I heard the newer remakes have worse music or graphics or something. Id replay it on my PS2 but Id be missing out on the Dark Aeons and whatnot again.

I think the ps4 version is fine

Whys the expert sphere grid?

Doesn't the Remaster fuck up their faces though?

Expert grid has everyone start closer to the center, and there's wayyyy more intersections between paths. It's really awesome actually. Each character still has a well defined path, but it's really easy to take a detour from Yuna into Rikku or whatever and then get back on track.

Expert makes it easier to change your characters path early in the game cause they all pretty much start in the middle.

Expert sphere grid gives you more flexibility. Your party isn't bound as tightly to their linear path and aren't typecast as strongly, and since you've already played the game you roughly know how things work, enough to make viable parties. Tidus can grab steal way before Rikku joins the party, for example, or Wakka can go down part of Auron's path for more power with his accuracy. Or you can make Auron a black mage for fun if you want to be a little less efficient.

I don't remember any weird graphical issues from the Remaster. If you get it on PC you can mod in new textures anyway.

I definitely don't like some of the graphics and music in the remaster. But overall it is great if you've already played the original a bunch of times.

I played the PS4 version with the new soundtrack. My biggest complaint is that they decided to use piano arrangements for some tracks and I think that's really lame.

But the overall graphical updates look really good and it's hard to go back to PS2 style.

What I do like is that they did go for different sounding tracks. It's not like we needed just higher quality versions of the originals, since the originals hold up super well already. They gave us different interpretations, which are cool, and then we can go back to the superior old ones.

It's definitely worth it for a couple tracks though.

Some of the interpretations are super inappropriate though. Like, Wandering Flame was pretty much literally perfect for the situation but it remastered...

Not saying that it's an indictment on the whole soundtrack, just things like that really irk me

It's just my preference. I also dislike FFVII. I'd take IX over it any day

Hell honestly I'd prefer Final Fantasy Tactics over all mainstream ff games

XII was the last good FF.

XV was OK but it felt incomplete, though I suppose I should play all the DLC it has received... the vanilla game left a lot to be desired.
