Like, if the purpose of a particular plot development is to make an interesting story, you're doing it wrong.
For example, it's more rewarding to defeat a boss that was about to destroy the world than to defeat a boss who... was just there. It's further more rewarding to defeat a boss that was about to destroy the world and also who earlier humbled the player with a hopeless boss fight. Etc. --- 53 LIII 0b110101 p16 0x35 ... thst's how it works in World of Warcraft. many quests are the same shit over and over

Idk about "wrong," but I think if a game's story can just be transplanted into a movie or tv show script like say, The Last of Us, that's wasting some potential. The Nier games use the medium beautifully.

It does a good job of dragging the player where he/she might or might not want to go, and not just with the infamous Spring non-decision.
