i mean, you would think so

monster hunter clone with cartoony graphics and a rocket hammer weapon

but it's just not very good. hits feel like you're cutting paper. monster fight design is poor so far. weapon combos are shallow.

i'm going to keep playing it because i'm starved for a hunting game that i haven't played to death already but it's lame

to be honest, as a trophy completionist, playing some games IS just work. tried to platinum Driveclub using just the PS+ edition (which is very limited) and... I regret the amount of tedious work I had to do for that. I've started simply avoiding games that force me to do that kind of work to play the game the way I do.

trophies hunting is lame

i've gotten all the trophies for two games: re7 and horizon zero dawn. the first one was just such a good game that all the trophies were challenges that i wanted to do anyway because they were fun challenges. the later was all easily accomplish-able in one playthrough without doing anything i wouldn't have done normally.

I enjoy trophy hunting mostly because it often forces me to see a game more for what it really is than what it appears to be at first. I used to go for some absurd platinum trophies, but I've stopped doing the ones that are way too grindy or have ridiculously hard challenges that aren't fun. But some games, I've discovered so much more of the backstory through the collectibles I had to get, or I've discovered new ways of playing that I hadn't considered before because a trophy would force me to play that way. It's honestly pretty cool to really explore a game in its entirety, not just the way you initially want to play it.

There have been many games that I platinumed and my opinion of the game flipped because I spent more time with the game and started understanding more of what works and what doesn't. Interesting stuff.

Well it has been for an hour but i was getting ready for bed.

Im all caught up on hearthstone global games matches so im not sure what to watch tonight. Im a fair bit behind on Achievement Hunter content so ill probably start there.

whoops it's passed 4 I missed late night time

but I have to have something on in the background when I sleep or else my mind keeps thinking stuff and keeping me awake

so I generally put on something dumb like bloopers or game shows or whose line episodes I've seen a million times that I don't really have to pay attention to and keep it on low volume until I fall asleep

eventually my PC goes to idles to sleep after no activity tho so I'm cool

as for light, I have an app to dim un-focused windows to... *checks*... 25% brightness that I activate, and then set focus to a window that I drag off to a powered-off monitor, resulting in just dim video playing on my tv at barely audible volume

it's nice I just activate the dim-unfocused-windows with Ctrl+Alt+F, then move over whatever window with Ctrl+Windows+X
