I just prefer Princes sound and variety of talent to MJ. Both are amazing but Prince was another level in straight technical musicianship in my opinion.

I wouldn't call him a one trick pony by any stretch of the imagination... but yeah. I only like Raspberry Beret and MJ's discography is amazing.

it's an incredibly stupid post to be honest, if you don't like him that's fine but to say he's a one trick pony......something might be wrong in between the ears lol

Prince was the far better songwriter, composing way more complex and interesting songs. Sonically, he was also way more ambitious, throwing together rock, RnB, funk, and New Wave into something that were really unique and worked really well. While he could put together a radio hit like Jackson, he wasn't afraid of experimenting with longer compositions as well. I really feel like even though MJ's influence can be felt among entertainers, the influence from Prince's sound can still be heard, with artists like Blood Orange.

100% this

When I was younger I preferred MJ, 15-20 years later I prefer Prince. I like both but Prince was an amazing artist on another level of technical musicianship like the other user said. He could sing and was a great lyricist, he could play a bunch of instruments, he was also a god at guitar. I mean I still love Billie Jean and Bad and can recite every lyric but it's not "grown and sexy" like some of Prince's more low-key later stuff like Xs and Os, something that I appreciate now that I'm older.

This

Its definitely worth pointing out that Prince was far more of a musicianMJ was just a pop star for most of his career. Meaning, he just performed music written by other people. It wasnt until Bad that he actually wrote most of the songs on one of his albums
