Obviously LA and NYC have a million movies and TV shows, and Chicago and Vegas have plenty. I'm thinking it might be San Diego.

For #4, is Houston really that represented in fiction? It's certainly below the NYC/LA/Chicago trio at the top.

Chicago is definitely below Vegas, and might be below Miami and New Orleans.

Dick Wolf alone has done a fine job of making Chicago one of the most represented cities in fiction

My first thought was also Jacksonville, but my second thought was San Diego

I meant NYC/LA/Chicago being at the top of population totals, not amount of fiction generated.

Houston gets a lot of screen time because of Mission Control but I'm not sure how much that counts for "set in Houston" purposes.

"Houston, we have a problem" is probably the most famous movie quote involving a city's name >_>

I just mean that you're not really seeing Houston at all, just a room with computers. But yeah the fact that they call it out is probably good enough

As far as Texas in general goes, it's probably one of the few cases where small-town/rural areas probably generate more fiction than its big cities despite having some really populated metropolitan areas.

Phoenix sounds right.

San Diego has a few high profile films. Anchorman, Paranormal Activity, and Top Gun come to mind.

Anchorman was the only San Diego thing I could think of

Top Gun makes sense.

Paranormal Activity felt like it could have been literally any 'planned community'
