I mean, if you walk around outside at all and then walk around in your house, you are going to be tracking dirt and grime around your house. Especially over time. Obviously straight up walking in dirt is worse but the fact of the matter is, you aren't really going to be able to avoid it. Keep in mind it's not only outside stuff that matters, you walk around in public bathrooms and other dirty areas as well.

So rather than track in some particulates from your office building, you'll instead track bacteria and sweat from your bare feet everywhere.

Much better.

What are slippers, flip-flops or socks?

I'll take it one step further, why do Americans wear shoes on the couch and bed?

This is a thing that is ridiculously common in the media and I've witnessed it irl.

and really, there isn't any good argument for wearing shoes inside the home at all, regardless of the type of flooring you have or whatever else

it's just simply dirtier (like, waaaay dirtier)

and it's fine if you're okay with it, (i mean, it's your home after all, not mine), but to try to defend it in any way is tantamount to smokers defending their stupid-ass habit

I honestly don't know anyone who wears shoes in their house, and I've lived in Texas most of my life.

I mean, like if you're quickly going in and out then yeah, keep your shoes on. But if you're going to be inside for any amount of longer period of time, every human being I've ever known takes their shoes off.

So like, when people say they "wear shoes in the house", what do you mean by that?

Like when you're in the kitchen, cooking dinner, you're wearing shoes?

When you're sitting down at the table eating, you're wearing shoes?

When you kick back and watch some Netflix in the evening, you're wearing shoes?

Or do you just mean that when you get home, you walk to your bedroom with your shoes on, and then take them off?

I don't.
The rare times I wear shoes indoors is if I put them on to go out and remember I forgot something, then I'll go back inside, grab whatever, and go out again, without bothering to take my shoes off.

PONG WAS REAL? I thought that was just a story parents told kids to scare them

if you don't immediately take your shoes off in front of the door, whether you put on slippers or walk barefoot afterwards, you are wearing your shoes in the house
