Stopped buying Nike a long time ago. Their product quality is way below what I should get for the price.
And most of their shoes are ugly.

adidas are fucking ugly

their literal branding (speaking visually here) ruins everything

the only reason the brand is as popular as it is now is cause of kanye (whose yeezys are also ugly af btw) and his stans who are only as loyal as however popular whoever their leader is

Yeah, idk what's up with that, most adidas stuff for US market is ugly.
Both their clothes and shoes for EU market are great, but that's mostly because a lot of it is based on football (soccer) and US isn't really the market for that.

I've been buying exclusively adidas shoes for like 7-8 years now.

Yep. Hype is temporary, style is forever. Jordan 1s came out how many years ago? Still grails for even the most entry level of sneaker collectors. An all white pair of Air Force 1s, a wardrobe is empty without it.

Let the kids waste money on ugly garbage, Im buying a pair of Thunder IVs for $300 right now. Still not gonna look as dated as Yeezys 10 years from now.

No of course not. They're trying to capitalize on something many people are aware of to sell more of their product.

What it should do is lessen people's opinion of Kaepernick. Even if you agreed with his actions and stance, it is hard to see him as anything less than a sell-out now.

I don't care for them mixing politics in their ads.

With that said, when I need new sneakers, I'll try theirs on, usually they are tight, but their downshifter 6 was great, now they're at 8, so who knows. Its usually them or new bslance

Yeah you sneakerheads pushing past 30 would still camp out for the limited runs. This isn't about the shoes, it's about brand identity. There's a new generation of kids that don't know or care about Jordan the player or the image he once brought.

If you listen to any of Nike's conference calls over the past couple years, they're working on new relevance pertaining to a brand identity growth catalyst. Adidas has been eating their lunch in this category, so Nike's been frantically ramping up their edge/cool/hot factor with flashy football uniform redesigns and stunts like the Kaep ad.

Nike has lost market share in recent years, but that was to be expected considering how dominant they once were.

It's funny, Jordans were the premier shoe well into the 2000's but the kids I taught (high schoolers in the early 2010's) finally lost their taste for them. Most of them were more into KD's with a smattering of Lebron's and Kobe's.

For sure, but that doesn't mean they aren't desperate to regain their dominance.

Exactly, but there's also the threat of these athletes leaving/never signing with Nike, UA, etc to sell their own brand. LaVar Ball had the right idea. Nike needed to strengthen/revive the identity of the brand itself and that's exactly what they've been going all out to do lately.

Seems like most of the people that are "offended" are poor and obese, so I don't think Nike cares they're not going to be buying their budget-range-on-sale-at-the-outlet merch. Most of that stuff isn't actually Nike anyway, it's their logo licensed and slapped onto another company's gear.

No, I don't think less of Nike, but that's because I didn't have a high opinion of them anyway. They are in the sweatshop business of selling shoes, so that's what they're trying to do with this new ad. It's expected. Kaepernick is also just trying to get paid, and that is fine. My low opinion is of these fools who are saying they'll buy more because of the ad. Lol, you're being played like a fiddle.
