Aaaand done. Great game. Super strong ending. I have a few complaints about the campaign to side story ratio and that the boss fights were a little repetitive, but otherwise awesome. If it hadn't come out in the same year as God of War, it probably would've been my GOTY.

Finished it last night. Was a pretty great game. Biggest issue was there being way too many side missions with not enough variety. The crimes and hideouts are just so exhausting. I was going for 100% completion but gave up after they introduced the inmate and sable crimes. One would've done fine.

I liked doing the hideouts, but I think combat gets really fun and creative as Spidey's skills and gadgets upgrade. It's a blast just throwing trip mines and spider drones everywhere.

What suit ability does everyone use? I like the Web Blossom a lot as a good "Oh shit" button.

Web Blossom early on. Then I switched to Spider Arms for a while, but eventually just went back to the first one that increases focus.

Oh and the Quipping power, for a while.

I like the one that electrifies and disarms all your enemies. Super useful when you need crowd control.

You mean the bonus objectives? I don't think I was actually getting the extra tokens from them so I think that's a good thing. I had been assuming it was per area or something and not per fight.

Looked at the patch notes and it doesn't mention anything noteworthy that was fixed.

I also read that they're working on a New Game Plus, so that's cool.

I think that's intentional. You only get the bonus tokens once for each crime type

I did run into crashes when a friendly source was damaging an enemy that I was disarming. Not sure if that was fixed or not.

Kotaku is complaining about this game because the police help Spider-Man with crimes instead of matching reality where they should be horrible monsters

Like, they complain that Spider-Man likes the police and actively works with them instead of instantly being skeptical of everything they say

They even complain that the villains/prisoners that break out of Rikers or whatever are all violent. Because, you know, the wrongly accused and/or those who committed misdemeanors would be ones to break out of prison and would do so peacefully, and this needs properly reflected.

Yeah, I saw that and thought it was dumb too. I mean, literally at the beginning of the game, Spider-Man puts a load of corrupt cops in prison, so it makes sense that most of the ones left over are good. Even then, there's a bunch that don't like him, even if they're not actively shooting him.

And of course all the prisoners he fights are violent. Why would he fight the non-violent ones?

Rykers is a high security prison for people who are actually too dangerous to be in regular prison too, which he overlooks.

I dunno, I don't think he got to the part in the game where Spider-Man lectures the cop on practicing proper gun use in high stress situations against minorities.

Or the part where Spiderman beats a narcotics user to death with a manhole cover, throws him off a building and says "I wonder if the heavily increased restrictions on oxycontin are leading people to use easier-to-get yet more deadly street drugs".

Rented it and returning tonight but liked it a lot. Not sure what's spoilers going forward

I finished the first harry research thing and the bank fight with herman.

The stan lee cameo made me smile real big loved it.

The web blossom is really good for getting crime tokens.

Could you get research tokens before the harry thing? I only had one chance to mess around in the lab.

Oh probably obvious but I got the exp thing when web swinging and its literally just 1 or 2 exp per spin so very not useful. Not sure how it helped focus

Yeah I got the platinum and it was super easy. You only need to purchase 15 gear upgrades so make sure you focus on the ones that don't need challenge tokens so you can buy all of the suits.

Yeah, I'm just working on finishing the suits, so I'm going back around and doing a few more of the Taskmaster challenges. I think I'm only 6 short, so it shouldn't be too tough. I got all the secret photo ops now, too.

WTF I just got platinum but I haven't gotten 100% completion yet. Still have a few suit mods and upgrades left. Gotta go get gold in some taskmaster challenges I guess.

This may just be my favorite super hero game alongside Arkham City. When the dust settles I don't know which one I'd say is better overall but right now I am just really glad I got to play a truly amazing (pun intended) Spider-Man game. Everthing I expected, it delivered and more.

Onto Dragon Quest XI.

Ending and general game spoilers

The entire endgame was super emotional and I appreciate the sequel hooks spread throughout. Big props to Yuri Lowenthal, his performance throughout the game was great but the last boss scenes and the final scenes he just knocked it out of the park.

This is probably my favorite version of classic Otto, too, and the first time I've really sympathized with him. Still think I like current antihero Otto a little bit more, though.

Seems we'll get playable Miles and Green Goblin/Venom as villains in the sequel. Really hoping for a boss fight where you play as Miles against Peter in the symbiote suit, I think that'd be an awesome hook.
