Whenever someone even remotely noteworthy quits twitter because they are upset about something the news jumps on it and makes claims about how terrible people are harassing them.
Yeah, if you do something or are involved with something people disagree with and have an open line of communication, people are going to complain to you. That's how social media works. And in some cases it follows them attacking the person or group who then counter-attacks. Because addicts always feel offended on some level when they see other addicts give up their addiction, because it reminds them of their own weakness.

That is mainly why I try to avoid social media altogether.

Back in the day we didn't get news forced down our throat 24/7. Nowadays all of these "news" outlets have to find something (anything) to talk about to stay in business.
