People are complaining about how the cloud save system is garbage when they should be complaining about why the subscription service cloud save is literally the only way to back up your saves at all when you should be allowed to back them on on your SD card for free.

Nobody locked save back ups behind a paid service before this, including Nintendo.

I think that is what they're complaining about. A few might be saying Nintendo's Cloud backup is bad. But most seem to be mad that it's locked behind a paywall.

That being said, I thought someone said that Sony also does that. Like you can't use the back up data unless your subscription is up to date....

I think that is what they're complaining about. A few might be saying Nintendo's Cloud backup is bad. But most seem to be mad that it's locked behind a paywall.

You can back up saves on the PS4 with a USB stick for free.

Backup through the cloud requires a subscription service.

In a rare event Nintendo actually did something about massive complaints aside form ignoring them and blocking comments on all their videos.

But I bet there are idiots celebrating this as a victory when they still can't back up their saves without a paid subscription service.

We don't know if Nintendo did anything. They could have been 6 months all along but whomever wrote the FAQ about them worded it poorly.

When some asked about it, this was the answer:

Is my save data retained if I cancel my Nintendo Switch Online membership?

We are unable to guarantee that cloud save data will be retained after an extended period of time from when your membership is ended.

So, they did say the data would stay for a little while. They just didn't know how long. Now we know 6 months instead of it being vague. But they did say that. People just started yelling and stuff before checking, it seemed.
