Doesn't it provide nearly limitless amount of replay and user created content that has extended the game for well over 5 years now?

Apparently, R* got way too greedy with it (shark cards), and made it their sole focus and cancelled content for the main GTAV in favor of developing for the online mode.

They turned it into a ftp model. Grind your ass off to earn the new stuff or simply pay a fee.

-Everything is overpriced and making money is a grind. It's obviously done so people will give up and buy Shark Cards.

-Public rooms are usually a mess and full of griefers.

-Said griefers are armed to the teeth since the the only reason they play the game is to grief people they make sure to always have the extra edge. This makes playing in a public room while not having all the upgraded weapons/vehicles a nightmare.

-A lot of ways to make money require being in a public room full of griefers which increases the chance of whatever product being destroyed 5000% and you earn nothing and lose progress. All in the hope you give up and buy Shark Cards.

-The game can be glitchy too and you can lose money that way when playing missions. These glitches aren't fixed because they wan't you to give up and buy Shark Cards.

-Some things require to buy other things just to fully enjoy them. Some vehicles can only be modded/upgraded by buying certain properties.

-Constant calls/messages every time you get on or change rooms telling you to buy stuff if you already haven't.

I still play, but only in private rooms with friends.

It's basically a grind fest full of way too much fucking loading. I'll admit the loading problem is probably a lot better on the current consoles / PC but the original PS3 release had me spend way too much time loading.

performance is irrelevant since you're just waiting for other players who are also waiting for you.

i don't think i've seen worse online optimization and subsequent downtime in a renowned game than GTAO whose instanced events make up like half the experience.

Kinda funny how an online game improves once you find a way to empty the lobby.

Think I spent more time loading than actually playing.

The lag was absolutely terrible at times too, often had desync issues on top of that.

Originally matchmaking and sessions were a pain in the ass but there's so much content in the main overworld that you don't even have to deal with them unless you're doing heists or contact missions.

Otherwise the big complaints are that things cost a ton of money (because they want you to buy shark cards) and that Rockstar basically never did anything to address the issue with cheaters.

I put a few hundred hours into GTA Online on the PC alone (I had played it quite a bit on 360 too), and there were cheaters in every other session.
