There are a bunch of other mitigating factors like him being warned to back off and the guy making death threats and had a baseball bat. If you watched the video, granted the one provided in this link i'm not sure shows the entire thing, but the man repeats over and over "i'm going to kill you" and at the end, advances, and in a few frames you can see the armed man with the pistol defending himself from what seems like the baseball bat thrown at him and striking him, which resulted in the other guy shooting him with the shotgun. He threatened, he advanced, and he struck one of them with a bat. The only reasons the media is empathizing with the deceased, his wife and their family is because the father and son armed themselves against the deceased outside of his family's home which housed children and because the deceased was killed in front of his instigating, idiot wife. Obsessing about his children and fearing strangers as deranged pedophiles who are after them, thus he also went on to make violent threats against a fairly harmless delivery man, just going about his job. It is also likely the police didn't respect him or cut him a break because of his criminal past. Also, the way he kept going on about needing his meds, made him seem like he was a bit too addicted to them too? Possibly abusing opiods too? Anyway, what's done is done, RIP. IMO the father and son should have charges reduced, but the dumb wife should also face minor charges for knowingly letting her mentally ill, violent criminal husband go on a verbal rampage harrassing and threatening the armed father and son instead of not trying to descalate the situation, but also further instigating it with some of her commentary.
