No, but I could easily have an associate's by now. Hope to get my bachelor's in physics in the fall of 2020, and my Ph.D. sometime in 2024 or 2025.

I'll have my Masters of Science in Nursing (focus on nursing education) in Spring 2020

And hopefully my Doctorate of Nursing Practice (acute care focus, I either want to do critical care or neurosurgical) by Spring 2023

Will look into getting my PhD too.

Does the CS field actually look for a MS? I always see people in other topics mention needing a variety of certificates.

Depends on what you want to do

If you want to do research, a PhD is pretty much a must. You can do it with an MS but nobody looking to fill a researcher spot is going to bother looking at something like your Github to find out if you're a some superstar coder so someone with a doctorate will have a huge advantage. MS and PhD are almost equal at places like Google, Amazon, and Apple since it's all about how well you can code. I also recall Google saying something recently about how they don't care if you even have a degree as long as you're a great programmer so there's that.

As far as certifications go, I don't know much about that since I'm not familiar with jobs where it would be relevant other than hearing that it could lead to pay raises for BS and MS holders.

Best link I could find on mobile but not the link I was originally thinking about: https://www.valuewalk.com/2018/08/no-college-degree-apple-google-hire/

The google and apple thing sounds fishy IMO. I bet they do want people with a bachelors, but they want to say they dont care about the degree in order to pay less to people with a degree

it hasnt gotten me any job yet (graduated may 2015). my current job has nothing to do with english lol.
i think most people who get an english degree do the thing where they teach english in a foreign country (usually asian)

You think most of them do that? I know that's a thing, but I would expect more people would be hesitant to uproot their lives like that. You may be right; I would just be surprised.

well i guess not most but a lot of them do.
or they more directly go the teacher route and actually you know get certification and stuff

The poll could be inaccurate, but I also don't think CE reflects the general population.

how doesn't it reflect the general population?

A buncho 22-35 year olds who at one time or another were interested enough in gaming to sign up for a gamefaqs account?

And you're wondering why they might not represent the general population?
