I only ask because likely I'm moving there pretty soon (transferring jobs within my company).

I've been to the Cidercade, seen the women, it was enough to convince me to move.

Anyway my office is gonna be in Irving and I'm trying to make it on like 35k a year, I'm trying to figure out what areas to stay out of and shit like that. I would rather not drive more than 30mins to work.

I'm not a person who enjoys large living quarters, I'll likely do studio apartment to start. Can I get out with $500 for rent without living in a Barrio that I'm constantly gonna have to pull pistols out to not get robbed?

Thanks for advice, and when I get there if anyone wants to go to Cidercade or some shit and you're not a serial killer then I'll hit you up. I plan on moving before the end of the year.

I live in DFW and do apartment inspections for my job; have done several in Irving and the surrounding area.

I can tell you right now that you won't find studios going for $500 anywhere except maybe in the absolute shittiest parts of the metroplex. Anything even remotely acceptable is going to start in the $650 range.

As far as Irving proper goes, I'd try to find something on the north side of 183, though that might be a little more expensive than what you'd like.

Avoid the Bachman Lake area nearby in Dallas at all costs (an area bounded by I-35E, Northwest Hwy, Walnut Hill Ln, and Marsh Ln).

GD if studios start out at 650 I'm gonna have to find a roomate. Thanks for the advice on where to avoid though.

I guess I very well may be incorrect about the rent.

I'm only speaking from my experience on the job, and I have never personally seen a studio apartment in that general area renting for less than $600 (and that includes some pretty nasty run down properties). Your mileage may vary as someone actively seeking out a better deal.

Im gonna get on zillow and shit and look around. I would have a roomate that I work with move with me but it is $2k alone to break his lease where we are now and he already has a roomate so he'd be leaving him stuck with high ass rent on a 2br too.

I can do "kinda" ghetto, but not "Joes apartment" roach infested, people trying to rob me kinda shit. I pack pistols and I will shoot a motherfucker if I have to but I would prefer not to have to deal with the bullshit of living in the ghetto.
