Used it for years that way because it's easy to import pictures that way. Recently, they've been LOCKING ME OUT of the app altogether unless I verify my number. Nothing but a white screen with a button that says "verify your number," and a smaller button which just links to like help.tinder.com. So I enter some gibberish and try to use the "I didn't get a code" button. Which provides a couple of alternatives; one is sending a notification/message to Facebook, the other is a voice call (which probably would again require my phone number). I think, great, I'll have them do a Facebook notification. Never arrived. I even logged out of the app and logged back in, again, directly using my Facebook login info. If I could, I would just call them up and just pay them however much money they would make from my phone number sale to spammers and have them unlock my account that way. It's embarrassing. Combine that with the shitty weak-ass "win a grand in your hand" promotion from iheartradio and it's just so obvious how badly they want to slurp you for your phone number. One thing I don't get; how the fuck, just by installing the app, do they not already have my number anyways?? The saddest part is how they try and mask it like it's for your protection and/or extra security to give you another way to recover your account, when the reality is, they just want your number to sell to spammers. Because, hey, if they actually wanted me to be secure, they would make it optional. But it's not about my safety.
