The data is on the FBI's website if you want to disprove. I mean it should be compared amongst the big cities, I'm sure if you expand out to top 20 it will still rank extremely high

They actually have the data by state...why don't you look at the data. I'll do the top 20 cities for you (you know where people actually live) and I'll report back. Why don't you do the states then.

According to FBI data released this week, police investigated 5,221 violent crimes in 2017, giving San Diego a rate of 3.7 crimes per 1,000 people, fewer than New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix and Chicago. The FBI tracks four kinds of violent crimes: murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, rape, robbery and aggravated assault.

San Diego boasted lowest violent crime rate of biggest cities last year

California has the highest poverty rate of any state when you include things like housing costs.

Oh? But liberals told me poverty is the number one reason for crime, but if California is so safe, does that mean poverty really isnt correlated to crime that strongly?

anyway, San Diego is not a gun-free zone

in-fact there is actually a landmark court case involving gun laws and San Diego

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peruta_v._San_Diego_County

Under San Diego's policy, a "'typical' citizen in San Diego County cannot bear arms in public for self-defense" because by San Diego's definition, typical citizens cannot '"distinguish [themselves] from the mainstream'" and receive concealed carry permits. (Peruta v. San Diego (9th Cir, 02-13-14) p. 54.) Although prior to January 1, 2012, it was legal to openly carry an unloaded handgun in public, in October 2011 Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill that modifies the law on openly carrying an unloaded firearm to match the restrictions for openly carrying a loaded weapon,[5] effectively prohibiting (in all but limited circumstances) the open carry of firearms whether loaded or unloaded. (Cal. Pen. Code 25850, 26155.) Thus, the court found San Diego County's restrictive policy in combination with California's denial of open carry ultimately resulted in the destruction of the typical law-abiding, responsible citizen's right to bear arms in any manner in public, thereby violating the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution.

Where Jerry "Intentionally giving people aids should not be a felony" Brown and San Diego county tried to criminalize open-carry, even though it's a constitutional right
