No, I wouldn't have done what he did. That's rape by deception. He pretending to be the heroic prince, but all along he was the villain of the story. I remember some women's groups having a problem with his actions, too.

is that where he prematurely woke up Jennifer Lawrence, so he wouldn't be alone, or something like that?

I haven't seen the movie, but I heard something like that took place.

on the one hand it was selfish what he did. but I also understand it. I don't think its right for anyone to judge him unless they were in that situation

It's wrong. I would've done exactly what he did in the movie including the air lock scene if I were in that situation, but yeah it's wrong

I would try to hold off as long as possible, but after a while, not having any human interaction would make me stir crazy, and I think I would awken someone else on purpose. We wouldn't even have to be in a romantic relationship, I would just want someone there to see every once in a while.

But really, what idiot designed capsules for a fucking 120 year trip where if you wake up you can't go back in hibernation (except for one special capsule)

Yeah he was wrong. What he did was terrible and equivalent to an early death for the girl he woke up.

It makes you think. It's morally wrong, but makes sense. Also, he saved everyone in the end by working together with her.

Well, they would have. The only other person who woke up was the captain and he died after giving them commands on how to save the ship.

That doesn't change the morality of what he did because he didn't know that.

Not saying it does. Just refuting what he said not knowing that they would die.

Hell no. In a strict black & white moral sense, yes he was. In a more human sense it is the 100% right course of action. Much as it sucks for J Laws character you cant expect someone to just spend years (decades probably unless he kills himself) alone on a ship going insane just to die in the end.

It was a very human thing to do and something I could easily forgive after the initial shock.

But you don't know that

pretty sure we do.

i mean the movie opens up with damage being done to the ship which obviously lead to hibernation failure.

even at the beginning of the movie i doubt it was done for dramatic effect in order to showcase something like a single engine failure that resulted in say a few years of extra traveling time xd.

Well, human companionship is key.

No one knows what they'd do in this situation. The most avid accuser in this thread, might be the first to turn and wake somoene else up if actually faced with this scenario. I'd say most people would either kill themselves, or wake someone else up.
