I feel like this is the biggest thing everyone's worried about for the upcoming contest. I think it might be a good idea to take a look at what makes something super ralliable vs them just being joke fodder.

So here's my thoughts on some of the suggested rally characters

Monika:
I dont think she stands the much of a chance, her game came out last year and the hype surrounding it has totally died off. Only chance of a rally happening is if Doki Doki gets a sequel announced mid contest.

Undertale characters:
Same as Monika, Undertale's time is done. Only reason its rally happened was because it came out at the start of the contest and it took over the Internet for the next few months

Llama:
No one who plays Fortnite cares about some GameFAQs contest. It's mostly really casual fans that dont really care about a GameFAQs contest

Bowser:
I think if anyone has hidden rally potential its Bowser. Bowsette is huge right now and if Nintendo makes Bowsette a canon transformation for him it's over. Granted that would all be a perfect storm, but that's what rallies are. It's not likely, but I'm going to have the thought in the back of my head while making my bracket

Memes =/= rallies on their own. Someone over at Reddit or somewhere similarly effective would have to organize the Bowser rally for it to mean anything more than like a 2-5% boost.

It's too bad we didn't have a contest in 2014, otherwise we'd have Luigi Death Glare to compare that to, and I don't think we would've seen too much of a boost.

Haha wasn't 2013 the year of Luigi and he still jobbed to Big Boss? And yeah agree with memes =/= rallies. Just look at Steven Armstrong, but memes are a really good way to make rallies stronger. I do think the whole Bowsette situation is a little more than a meme. A lot of people actually want her to become a legit character

I don't think that Bowsette would really boost Bowser at all without pictures to go with it.

As much as I'd like Bowser to be rallied more than most characters, I don't think it'd happen as it would be him and not Bowsette. It's tough to call these things.

Also, Luigi would've easily beat Big Boss if Ness hadn't been there.

I think if anything Waluigi's gonna get a big boost in strength as opposed to a rally. I think most people are finally understanding how great the Waaa is (including Nintendo)

Waluigi is probably going to benefit more from NOT being in Smash than he would have if he had made the cut. Still probably won't be a HUGE boost but he could realistically win a first round match.
