Not sure if this is hyperbole, but those emotions or less forms of them should be expected to be normal for the context of the situation, regardless of guilt or innocence.

This is not a court of law, and members of the hearing don't have to pretend they are impartial. Kav probably understands that no one is there to determine whether or not he is guilty, they are there to impede his nomination.

Not sure why a person who might be innocent getting emotional over having a SC seat being taken away sounds unreasonable to you.
