ive spent a few hours watching youtube videos and stuff and played MTG arena for a draft here and there and im still clueless about so many things outside of the basics on how to play the game.

mostly things like formats and keywords.

what the hell are all those different symbols and icons below the creatures picture? is it the series and rarity? what the hell is m19? how do people keep track on whats available on standard? how many seasons is a card until its rotated out because theres currently 5 in MTG:A? what the hell is M19? is core 2019 a bigger deck than guilds of ravnica and the ones before it? cause its the only one without a roleplaying name.

modern is like, 12 years of cards being allowed right? then how do you know which is even allowed? how do you know that a card is banned evne if it is from the decks that are allowed?

what does it mean to be exiled? what are the different phases called? upkeep, combat and whats the one after combat?

where is the entire mechanics list for planeswalkers? why are they so overpowered and pay to win?

whats a lord? whats a commander? i know its a game mode but there seems like it might also refer to something else.

why are there so many godamn non-basic lands? whats a shockland? i know what gates are, how do you know if an artifact land is good?

im playing it online on pc, MTG Arena just released . im not paying 100 dollarydoos for that and travelling to the city centre for friday night magic(which is an extra tenner). id rather do it comfily and cheaply at home.

Just trying to help. You could just say you were never taught sentence structures and carry on. No need to get mad at me for it.

I'd really just recommend hitting up a wiki and just marinading in that for a bit. A lot of card shops carry intro or beginner decks that they give out for free and that will teach you basic mechanics, turn structure, card types, etc.

I'd mess around with that for a bit and decide whether or not you like the game before throwing more time or money at it.

As for your actual questions. I would recommend going to a local card shop that does FNM a few hours before an event and ask if some players would like to teach you and help with the basics. If there's a nice community there then at least someone should be able to help. This kind of information is better shown and taught in real life.
