Everyone on the right harps on jobs but they are shitty jobs. What matters is real wages increasing.

It's very likely that most of those who espouse anti-labor market economics don't have a fundamental understanding of what the term "real wage" means.

Its a pretty simple term, wages in terms of the amount of goods they can buy. Basically, the actual amount people makes goes up but inflation negates it.

Sorry if its too complex for you.

Yeah I say what jobs has trump created and the answer is none. He is the luckiest president in history he comes in after Obama literally pulled a miracle and restored us from the devastation that was 8 years of Bush systematically destroying the economy. trump is literally mooching off the success and hard work of Obama and the sad thing is he is doing everything he can to destroy all the good work Obama did to bring us this far.
It just goes to show how great a president Obama was when some one is actively trying to destroy his polices and our economy somehow still hasn't crashed even though it is on the brink.

This has been true for decades regardless of which party is in power.

It's almost as if nobody cares beyond getting your vote because they're beholden only to the money.

Much of the growth of US corporate profit over the last decade has been dependent on keeping real wages flat.

Right wingers just buy in to propaganda from the rich to keep everyone down because they're deluded into thinking one day they'll join the rich club and be friends with their betters. Over 100 years ago they'd be defending robber barons and the gilded age and kids working in coal mines. Centuries ago they'd be the same people who would defend feudal lords, the aristocracy, and the divine right of kings.

I seriously wonder if there's some sort of psychological reason or something related to the primitive parts of our brains that cause this. Really, I'd be interested in this. I'm not just saying that to be a jerk.

if you increase wages when the economy is doing well, you would need to decrease them when it's not doing well. Which would be bullshit.

At the global F500 I work at outside of a cost of living adjustment (which isn't done every year and can be scaled back based on "performance") no one gets a raise unless they get promoted. And obviously the higher you go the harder it is to get promoted.

No surprise there. A lot of data has shown that loyalty is now effectively punished, and the big raises you get come from changing jobs, as then you can re-attain your actual market worth.

My wife's last employer gave her a 1% raise after getting a top-ranking performance review. She changed jobs and attained a 15% raise.

Honestly, it's mostly because deep down, people like to believe that those of high wealth got there because they worked hard & made good decisions, which means they can do it too, with enough diligence; doesn't help that there are a few rags to riches story to legitimately support it. The harsh reality is that most of the wealthy are at minimum, born into positive circumstances, if not outright living on the fruits of inheritance. If rising to the top were seriously something everyone could do with just enough hard work & good decisions, a lot more people would have done it, & the retail/fastfood industries would collapse from having their bottoms yanked out.
