Have been looking for 1 year and 9 months since graduating. The job is a Software Dev for 56K a year. There's also 7000 in bonuses on top of it in the first year.

I live in NYC. They're offering to get me a plane ticket to go to Indanapolis to do training then after training I have to move to CT.

Should I do it? Its a big opportunity, but its scary and I feel like I won't be happy, Especially with the move to Indianapolis.

What are your specific reasons exactly with being unhappy? Being away from people you know?

Yeah basically being away from my friends and family. My mother who's getting older as well. I also have a huge fear of flying. If it was just going to CT, the move would be easier :/ I was actually considering it and excited until Indianapolis came into the picture

Thats like 20 hours from home on Greyhound

The whole fact of the move to Indianapolis being just for training makes it seem like it would be worth it if that is the greatest concern, but I understand that loneliness can be really depressing, so it's hard to say.

Easy yes. CT is driving distance back to NY as well in case your mother needs attention or you just want to visit.

I mean, it's probably in Stamford or New Haven, but even Hartford would be within easy driving distance of New York City.
Connecticut is tiny geographically.

Hartford to NYC is showing about 3 hours right now. Hartford is probably in the "middle"-ish part of CT, so you can definitely give or take an hour or two for that.

Either way, definitely driving distance for a weekend visit.

Yeah I was thinking that. I can take a Peter Pan Bus back to NYC every weekend for visits.

The Indianapolis part is whats throwing me for a loop smh. I was just warming up to it until that happened. I've never even gotten on a plane before. It makes he process more complicated

This. I've flown dozens of times. It's easy as fuck. If you're worried then tell a doctor and ask for xanax.

And Indianapolis is only for training like you said so obviously can't be that long.

I've grown to appreciate my family more once I moved away. 10,000km apart is a hell of a distance. I'm currently over 3,000km from my wife and daughter which is absolute hell for me but they should be back with me in a couple more weeks.

You've gotta do it. Flying anxiety is normal, but it's a pretty easy one-time (well, two, since you gotta fly back) experience in exchange for a full time job after nearly two years of searching.

That said (and I don't mean this as a criticism to you because I don't know your circumstances well enough), being away to the extent that you become an absent father is really not good at all.

Doing it for work. Had visa problems which made it take longer than planned. They joined me at the beginning of September but we had to go back to Thailand 2 weeks ago because of a house purchase which basically voided their single entry visas (if we didn't come then they were threatening to cancel the loan and keep our $16,000 deposit).

Now my working visa has finally gone through and I should be able to return to Thailand by the 22nd to meet them and return to China together (hoping earlier but this week being a big holiday in China might delay it a bit).

It will end up being 4 months of misery (well minus the month they were here already) but it's in the best interest of our future and worth it in the long run.

Good, be scared because in that fear you'll find the fear of standing still and then it's a battle between fears and your fear of doing this and your fear of not doing it will fight and you'll be crowed the king of the mushroom kingdom. Basically ,what I'm saying is feear can spur you towards decisions you otherwise would never make and this fear could be the best scared action you ever take because o f how new it is and then that fear will be replaced with anticipation and that asshole over in the other topic owes me money
