I don't have to worry about engaging safeties or anything like that. In a public scenario, a semi-auto isn't really any advantage because if you just start rattling off rounds you are going to risk injuring bystanders. It's irresponsible. If I'm engaging in a prolonged gun fight with multiple attackers then sure a semi-auto is advantageous, but the chances of that occurring is pretty unlikely.
