Democrats are on a losing streak and keep doubling down. Even in the face of prominent leaders on the left telling them to change certain tactics it seems like they are their own worst enemies.

Right now people on Twitter are freaking out about Kavanaugh winning. They call for more incivility, the tactic that failed them already. They can't seem to understand why they lost Bernie voters to Trump.

Bill Maher recently called out "social justice warriors" for helping get Kavanaugh confirmed, Michael Avenatti is accused of helping the Republicans, and Democrats are now calling to act "more rudely."

Maher is right but as long as other Democrats don't reflect they will keep losing.

These sentences are non-sequiturs put next to each other; I don't think "incivility" is pushing any Bernie voters towards Trump.

You're completely right, it's exact opposite. Bernie voters wanted to scumbag it up rather than running a meek establishment same-as-always campaign. What a bizarre train of thought

I don't know of a single Bernie supporter that voted Trump, incivility or no. They just refused to vote for Hillary and either voted third party, wrote in Bernie, or exercised their right to not vote.

It's so interesting to see how it works.

Trump gets the Right mad. It works and they vote in droves.

The left gets mad, but due to how splintered the left is (which isn't in itself bad, it's good to have differing opinions and actual debate), it ends up with them debating what the proper move is. People act, but it doesn't always push the left forward.

The right then gets mad that the left is mad, and fucking DOUBLE DOWN on everything Trump spews. It doesn't matter that Trump is a fucking idiot who lies and has no idea WTF he is talking about, they're just like, "THE LEFT WILL EAT US ALIVE! HOLY SHIT JUST DO WHAT TRUMP SAYS!" and it works!

This might be a crass generalization, but it seems like the right just don't give a fuck as long as the "right wins", where-as the left don't have anyone to really unite under due to differences in philosophy and principles of what it means to be "left wing" in the current US political spectrum.

It actually makes sense because one of the tenets of the republican party used to be the meritocracy/competition.

It's ironic. Democrats say diversity is our strength, but their diversity is a huge liability rn

You're close, but the key detail you missed - the right is a bit more willing to settle for "at least this path is closer to what I want, even if it's not quite there". Many of the various left factions insist that their way is the only way.

It's incredible what life is like when Republicans in red states push against progression and education. It's amazing.

That certainly has a large impact on how I vote. Im actually very libertarian, but since there are no signs that libertarian candidates are actually going to hold governmental positions any time soon, conservatives are the next best thing. I do a balancing test on what issues are more important and weigh that against character flaws or minor issues that I disagree with.

This is why America needs to dump this system we have and go completely Proportional Representation. Fuck this Democrat/Republican shit. Unless we meet in a middle ground, the country will forever suck and it is up to the people to make sure it remains 50/50. Unfortunately with the nuclear options being taken and the complete division of this country now, I don't see America recovering for a long, long time. This country is so fucked up. SO fucked up.

I'm just a layman, so take my remark with a grain of salt, but I think the difficulty of the Left to rally is partly due to a critical flaw in Progressive politics.

Basically, the way I see it, the Right is more stable because Conservatism is about maintaining the status quo. The Left is more divided because Progressivism is about pushing boundaries. That means, as time goes on, the Left as a whole gets pulled further and further left, but the individuals within don't necessarily shift their politics as quickly.

So, you get events like radical leftist students harassing a less radical leftist professor because he lightly criticized their event.
