This. It mainly excludes most women and they dislike that. I know this sounds stupid but it may be the fact that having games/sports as a hobby means they lose power over us since we enjoy something that doesn't include them. But thats just me thinking out loud.

Because they can't stand us being able to compartmentalize our enjoyment time. Life can be stressful, but as men, we can set it aside for recreation, and women hate it. They can't enjoy things when they're stressed or annoyed or mad, so they feel like you shouldn't either.

My wife gets upset when I spend too much time playing. She wants me to be with her instead, and that's understandable. I just have to put the controller down, and we go out and do something.

I think the OP is referring to feminists getting upset at sexualization of females in video games. I find it annoying when they get like that, but that's just me. Something something it perpetuates the objectification of women something something. It's fiction. It's fantasy land. A well adjusted person won't be swayed by pixelated bouning titties.

In my experience with online gaming since the days of StarCraft and even to this day with females, dudes have always been a bitch White knight to them. But then I also have other friends who are married and both enjoy video games to different levels.

It might be due to a lack of understanding of what it is that makes video games so attractive to play.

There's a difference between deprivation of not being able to handle having someone's attention at all times.

I have a friend who didn't like how her boyfriend would play all the time and wouldn't engage with her at all when they were home together. He ended up getting rid of his games but now just watches LPers all the time.

Your friend could have some underlying issues that are causing his extreme escapism. If that's not the case, then he needs to seriously rethink his priorities.

But then I also have other friends who are married and both enjoy video games to different levels.

This is ultimately the best you can get. Either someone who plays with you or someone who enjoys to watch.

It might be due to a lack of understanding of what it is that makes video games so attractive to play.

I can understand this argument as I don't particularly find binge watching Netflix/Hulu to be all that attractive an option of how to spend my time.

I grew up in a household where when my parents are both home they talk for about an hour, eat together and spend the rest of the night doing their own thing, occasionally talking to each other about various things. This is the kind of relationship I'm used to. I've never had one like it myself. It's always about attention, they need attention, they want attention. I don't think you're hanging around the wrong women, sounds like you're hanging around the right ones.

Wait until it builds up enough that he loses his shit over how long it's been since he actually got to play a video game.
