That too, he was truly the champion of the 4th hour (or the late 3rd, when we lost it). Good run.

That's especially since... it isn't that hard to get a character here. It's getting past the final ~40 that's the hard part. I think there have only been about five rounds that I haven't been (theoretically) able to give or trade for every save Edea needed.

As a sidenote, I was going to reflect earlier how half the top 40 was from three games (VII, X, XIII). Now we got an even 6 from each of those games. Neat!

Also wonder if it's any coincidence they're the first game in each generation so would have a stronger fanbase from being people's first FFs... or maybe just a coincidence?

Yeah but nobody was actively supporting Zack, other than Koala occasionally. He was getting by on the kindness of strangers at the late endgame... bit different from active trading (I'm right there with you and GMUN).

Man if only IV had such luck from being the first game from its gen

I mean, the cast is basically the only thing XIII has going for it tbqh so it doesnt surprise me theyre doing good with consistent support

Well its not bloated compared to say, VI but its at the very least ok

Then again I like them less than a lot of other casts so whatever! (VII and X in particular have solid casts, VIII too kinda)

that's definitely not it. there's no other FF game in XIII's gen except its own sequels and X is only competing with XII. also IX is generally more popular on this board than VII.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting XV was next gen. We'll just chalk it up to coincidence then - year of XIII, v_charon and GenesisSaga's dogged support for several X figures, and VII just being the best

Base XIV ended up being PC only after the PS3 version was canceled, but A Realm Reborn launched on both PC and PS3 (with PS4 coming out the following year).

I ran the best Square Enix game ever tournament like 5 years ago, FF VII beat Final Fantasy IX in the final of the Midgar division (it was also the #1 seed over IX) before finally being doubled up by Chrono Trigger in the overall Championship and settling for Runner Up, (and fucking over X STATS for the entire left side of the bracket...)

Aside from his two top ten appearances, Zack's placements have pretty much all been on the lower end of middling - never high, but never all that low, either, which is about where he stands on the champion STATS ranking, too. This result bumps Zack from 54.85% to 55.47%, sliding him up one spot to 35th.
