And not in a fun way (/sarcasm)

I know anime is racist, that doesn't need discussing. But have you noticed how they make girl characters run? I was playing kingdom hearts 2 and noticed Mulan's run animation

I've seen this before, japanese games and anime make their girls run in this really dainty way that's super annoying and not cute at all, so I don't know why they do it besides the obvious.

Even women that are supposed to be warriors or whatever.

Real sexism against women in Japanese games/anime is extremely rare

Western games are sexist garbage

Coincidence?

I mean, Nintendo's super princess peach could be considered fun sexist with the whole crying mechanic and getting angry, that one I enjoyed. But stuff like this, less so and more annoyed rather than enjoyed.

I legit had to stop watching 7 Deadly Sins because one of the characters basically sexually harasses another character on the regular and it's played off as funny.

Like I'm not one of those people that gets offended easily but it's pretty fucked up and I couldn't believe how it was supposed to be funny that he grabs and gropes her all the time.

It's like, why design the run animation like that? They do it with all the women. Doing it with the damsel in distress is one thing, but doing it with the soldier?

Because they felt like it

Why is this an issue? It's just a harmless run animation

Same reason Naruto runs with his arms folded behind his back.

They don't really do that with soldiers, unless game is heavily fanservice oriented. For example Jill in RE3, theres tons of other games i don't wanna bother about. Even if animation differ from male, its only slightly

The first time that I noticed this was when I played FFX-2 and I thought that Yuna's run was too silly to look at.

Yeah I think it's a jrpg thing more often than not, which is the most anime inspired. I don't know if they do that to the ff 12 cast as well, I hope not.

I remember when I first started playing FFX-2 I couldn't believe what they did to Yuna's run. But I eventually got used to it. I still feel that Japanese RPGs are remarkably not sexist and have more strong, multifaceted female characters than most other forms of media

When they need to emphasize girliness but the way character moves for example, then they do. But not in every Japanese game.
And Japanese games are not sexist by default, cause there are games for everyone, males sexualized as much as females. They make games for entertainment without thinking of this stuff

No one mentioned nor really cares about sexualization though. Sexualization isn't exactly an issue or basis for sexism so much as the issue I mention in this topic and similar ones like it in jrpgs, for example ever heard of the trope where if the villain holds the girl's upper arm, she's suddenly rendered ineffectual despite being able to shoot lightning bolts from her fingertips or whatever? It's bizarre. There's this popular old school list of jrpg cliches from the old days that lists a bunch of stuff jrpgs do in general, and you can find some of the rules there.

After all, western media has shown that you can do both vulnerable and powerful for a character, it just has to be done right.

Japanese games changing as much as Western games. Except it has more directions than Western games, and there are games for everyone, if you know the market. While in the west its too one dimensional

I don't really play western games so can't comment, but I definitely don't know about any of that being true regarding japanese games.
