Does it annoy you when people just make up medical conditions either in jest or in reference to something by simply adding the suffix "-itis" to other words, considering people in general seem to think that is indicative of "any sort of medical condition" as opposed to specifically inflammation? It seems like people just "-itis" around because they hear it a lot but they don't realize it has a more specific meaning. I'm not even a medical person and it annoys me a little bit tbh >_>.

Like some fool has a persistent cough and they're like "is there such a thing as coughitis?" or that Futurama episode where the 80s man talks about Boneitis but it's just some weird generic bone-related thing? I used to do that before I knew better. Now it's annoying, even though that Futurama episode is a fucking classic.

It gets burned out of us thoroughly in residency.

But yeah, calling something _____"itis" is pretty annoying, since itis specifically means an inflammation of something.

But the worst is how people use defibrillators on people with asystole in shows.

Doesn't really bother me that much tbh. I just nod my head and drown it out as just heard it so much I don't care enough to get worked up over it anymore. Far better things to waste my time with and is rarely like they are doing it to annoy you anyway.

Far worse are the ones that challenge medical knowledge due to some drivel they read on the internet and whatever conspiracy they decide to believe in.

I get a fever every time I have a flu shot. No idea why. Maybe hyperstimulation of my immune system.
