iirc the mods' standing is basically "if a topic naturally veers off-course, it's fine, but if someone forcibly derails it, it's not"

do you guys like trains? i like them quite a bit and i've been planning a cross-country train trip to see the beautiful country and to enjoy train travel while we have it available. i've heard that the cross-country amtrak trips can be quite beautiful and inexpensive.
