The only other message board that could come close would be Gaiaonline but that was early 2000's I haven't been there in ages.

I think I also used Beckett board for the longest - which just transitioned into PotD.

My history was: FF9 social board, then at some point I just migrated to CE...then for some reason I took some time off and visited off and on. Perhaps due to the fact every time I make an account at my house it gets set to read only no questions asked, so when I'd get banned(which was often because i'd always make sick jokes about stuff) i'ds stay away because I couldnt just make an account so easily.

Then after a time I came back, but chose PotD because you can read the board as a level 4 read only, so when I did make an account I kinda knew the place.
