Only read the original manga (my version was called Knights of the Zodiac, have mercy on me), haven't consumed any other Saint Seiya media. That being said, what the fuck are these names? Why are these characters wearing these dumbass helmets? Didn't Seiya's cloth get turned into a new one without the chest...thing after fighting the Dark Knights? Same with Shiryu. Also, what are these stupid hair colors?

Unrelated, but I forgot how full of asspulls Saint Seiya is.

The Helmets were part of the original costumes but later on Kurumada decided he didn't like them so basically the first thing that happens in any fight is the helmets get knocked off and they just leave them where they fall and somehow they show back up when they next put on the cloth.

Also, I don't remember Cassios being a character in Soldiers' Soul, the story starts out with Sanctuary in that game. All the costumes basically have helmetless versions except the God Gold cloths I think.

Oh sorry the first costume change is after the defeat of the pope because they use the blood of gold saints to repair the cloth and that changes their shape. They get another change later when they use Athena's blood to repair the cloths, and then they get God Cloths.

Saint Seiya's popularity in South America and Brazil is astronomically high (It's like DBZ is here) and they went back and rehired all the original voice actors (except for I think 2 of them died) and it was a huge nostalgia draw.

They never had helmets, though. They only had headpieces that are, admittedly, garbage protection. I don't remember them getting helmets until they get god cloths.

Nah, they had helmets in the beginning. They still had helmets after the fact but they were more like tiaras / crowns / circlets and they still got knocked off anyway.

I know cassios is there but I'm not sure what's terrifying about him. He's one of this weakest characters in greece and his only significant contribution is dying.

That was before the pope was defeated. It was basically right after the galaxian wars got interrupted by Ikki. It actually predates the start of the story in the game which starts right at House of Aries.

No helmet as far as I can see.

He has fangs, cat eyes, and a white mohawk. Don't remember that in the manga.

Biggest issue with this game so far is that nothing is hand-animated when Saint Seiya has so many iconic moments that you just can't reproduce with procedural animation. Also, facial expressions seem to be non-existant.

I'm not 100% sure how it is in relation to the manga as I'd have to dig to see any differences as my memory isn't that great, but the anime is pretty fucking gory. It's got:


Shiryu blinding himself to defeat Algol
Generally speaking everyone is bleeding all the time
Hyoga gets his eye cut out
Pretty much everyone dies except the main characters. Multiple times.
Hades series is particularly violent.
Several Genma Ken scenes are gory, as well as some scenes from Shaka's Transmigration.
There's a lot of blood around the fight with Pisces Aphrodite


I mean it's tame compared to berserk, Elfen Lied, or goblin Slayer, but the original manga isn't anywhere close to those anyway.

I thought they did a really good job recreating the animations like tracing the constellations, and the signature attacks. The regular punches and kicks not so much but they kind of had to improvise as the saints didn't do much of those.

Yeah those were basically phoned in. The worst offense is at the end where they look like they wanted to also have the Soul of Gold story but gave up after the opening scene.
