Americas colonial history really. This was either a haven for pure capitalists (tobacco farmers, slave traders, etc) or religious zealots. Really a hotbed for the two types of people who are gonna be completely opposed to communism at least ideationally, if for very different reasons.

Probably because people are too busy on their smartphones.

I don't think communism is the answer, but we definitely need to transform from a system of "we need to make profit so we can have nicer things" to a system of "we need to do this for our survival and future". I think it's slowly happening, the biggest problem right now is the massive inequality between the rich and the poor that seems to be increasing. There is still plenty of opportunity out there if you're willing to work hard, the problem is that stress is at an all time high because you have to work hard to get that opportunity. You've listed a lot of the problems with modern society today though, there should be massive change for sure and we have all the resources to do it. I think we'll see progress though, massive progress, and things will get better you'll see don't get so down bro.

So the issue you have is that you have to work hard to be successful.

Work hard enough and you'll have turned the planet into Venus, but at least with some luck you will have made a lot of money

A group of people that wants other people to do things for them has yet to have a revolution? Its like the all the laws of reality have broken.
