I got a Sega Genesis with the first Sonic The Hedgehog game for Christmas one year. Around the same time, my dad brought out his Atari 5200 and his games and I got to play them as well.

I literally can't remember a time I didn't know about them. My first experience with a proper (ie: non-edutainment) game was Commander Keen 4*, but I remember playing a few edutainment titles even further back than that.

* technically I had Lemmings first, but the PC I had access to at that time didn't have a mouse, and I never figured out how to control it with a keyboard

For as early as I can remember I've been playing video games.

I don't remember what the earliest game I played was.

I remember we had Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt (with a light gun), and a Sega Genesis, and a computer that had multiple games on it (a weird wireframe shooter and a point-and-click/typing adventure game). I remember playing lots of games on Windows 3.1 (Gabriel Knight, Disney's Stunt Island, Treasure Mountain, a Barney mod of Wolfenstein, and some rollercoaster designing game), especially in the back office of my mom's retail shop since she picked me up from school and then I stayed there until closing.

I've just always spent my life at a computer. Kind of tragic.

a weird wireframe shooter

Shot in the dark, but would it be Battlezone? A video:

Just curious because - aside from Virtual Boy games and a NES prototype game - I don't think I've ever played a wireframe game period, but I remember playing the PC version of Battlezone very very distinctly for some reason.

I dunno, we just...had them.

I don't know of any spectacular way you're introduced to them unless you grew up an Amazon tribesman and your first taste of civilization was a Nintendo DS.

I loved the Lion King so my parents got me a Sega Mega Drive (Genesis for US folk) Lion King bundle.

What a hard ass game to start off with.

I lied, it wasn't 100% wireframe.

Also I can't even remember if it was the first or the second one to be honest. The second one had pretty good graphics for its time though I think.

I can't believe I've spent 98% of my free time on this planet playing games -_-

Only 98%? Them's rookie numbers

That game looks pretty neat though, almost like a 3D version of the one I posted (since you can now move vertically).

The sounds are rather annoying though x.x

Yeah I can't remember the sounds or anything.

Did you play Stunt Island? that game was hella tight, it was like a flight simulator but you could also put together movies and stuff in it.

Nah, I didn't. Most of the old games I played were ports of popular arcade games (mostly PS1 compilations of them since my parents bought a ton of them); granted I don't know if Stunt Island was popular, I just haven't ever heard of it so I guess not? Sounds pretty neat though flight sims aren't really my thing.

I don't know if it was even popular or not tbh. >_>.

Besides the computers I had as a very young child, my uncle put together a computer for me when I was in the third or fourth grade and I played Escape from Monkey Island on there a lot (never beat it though).

Remember getting Pharaoh, which required 700 MB of hard drive space, and I think I had a 1 GB hard drive at the time, so... you can imagine how that ran >_>
